GIF Animation

GIF animations are similar to a child's flip book toy: a series of single pictures shown in rapid sequence creates a sense of movement - animation - and produces limited special effects.

Large GIF animations (or many on a single page) place greater demands on bandwidth than do static images or compressed FLASH movies.

When bandwidth is a concern, we recommend offering visitors a choice of "entry doors" to your Web site: one link opens to a normal HTML introduction page while another link starts up the animation introduction page. Both pages automatically switch to the main content page after playing, or they allow the visitor to enter the site immediately.
